The children in Scoil Nuachabháil have come up with ways in which we can reduce the amount of waste at home and at school. Please take a look at ways in which you can help.

  • Did you know that our school collects batteriesold mobile phones and used ink cartridges.  If you have any of these at home feel free to drop them into the school.
  • Reduce the amount of waste in your child’s lunchbox.  As part of the Green Schools we encourage parents not to use tin foil or cling film.  Use kitchen paper (can be composted) if you need to wrap something in your child’s lunchbox.
  • Hand Towel Initiative.  A huge amount of the schools litter and waste comes from the use of paper hand towels.  In order to reduce this the committee have suggested that each child brings in their own towel each day and uses it to dry their hands. We suggest that an old tea towel or small hand towel would be suitable. This towel should be stored in the front pocket of your child’s school bag or else in a zip lock plastic bag and washed and changed as necessary.
