The school encourages childre to get involved in Athletics through participation and coaching. Each year parents withdraw children from the school to take part in the Kerry School’s Athletics which is run in An Ríocht, Castleisland. Over the years we have had much success in both indiviual and relay events. We have had children in the school that have represented the county in school’s cross country and we have even had a Community Games champion.

All of the success of our athletes comes from the clubs with which they are involved. We would like to support them and in the coming year we will take those children who wish to represent their school into the Ríocht by bus.

We had also arranged for a coach from An Ríocht to do coaching in the school with the children. Unfortunately the early closure of schools meant we could not follow through with this. Next year we will try to organise the coaching of athletics to supplement the excellent work being by our teaching staff.
