Two years ago our student council took on the responsibility of providing 30 Dignity Packs to homeless people in the Tralee area.

We received the rucksacks in November 2018 and agreed on the products we would target to help those less fortunate than ourselves who found themselves in temporary accommodation.

We approached local pharmacists and shops and asked for donations of sanitary products like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, toilet roll etc. We are extremely grateful Breda Crowley, Castleisland, James O’ Donoghue, Tralee and Garvey’s Castleisland for their generous contributions.

We also asked for a small monetary contribution from our parents to buy scarves, socks and towels for the packs. Most of the negotiations were done by the student council, who really took the project to heart.

The packs were filled by Rang 6 and delivered to representatives of Dignity Packs Ireland in Tralee. We even had a long chat with Deirdre Walsh on Kerry Radio about the endeavour.
